Supply Chain Management

The Supply Chain Management department consists of the Purchasing and Logistics sections.

Combining both sections offers the advantages of optimised co-ordination, enhanced flexibility, improved strategic alignment, and efficient structures.

The Purchasing section at RHI Refractories is organised on a global basis and is responsible for an annual acquisition volume of approx. €550 million.

Strategic Central Purchasing is based at Leoben Technology Centre (Austria). Decentralised purchasing departments are located at most RHI plant sites around the world.

Strategic purchasing of raw materials, energy, telecommunications, investment goods, travel management, commercial goods, packaging material, and services is the responsibility of Central Purchasing, while site-specific products such as operating supplies, spare parts, and services are purchased up to a certain value by the decentralised purchasing departments.

RHI Logistics is responsible for the group’s complete value chain. The department ensures that the 26 production sites supply more than 10,000 customer plants worldwide in the best possible manner.

With more than 60,000 customer orders per year, we deliver 1.2 million tons of refractory products to our customers.

The network of production sites, raw material supply, and distribution to customers is regularly monitored and further developed.

It performs operative tasks at key points in the value chain such as raw material volume planning, production planning, and transport.
